Breaking the norm. It's a task that may seem daunting at first, but in reality, anyone can do it. Through this speaker line up, we hope to share ideas and perspectives that differ from the conventional way of thinking, motivating and empowering others to not be afraid to step up and voice their thoughts and opinions. Be the fork in a world of spoons!

Aditi Paudel

Architecture
Aditi Paudel is a student at Princess Anne High School in the International Baccalaureate Program. She helped publicize the TEDx Event, and is part of the “It’s not Sitting Right” TED Talk. She hopes that people will be able to notice the little details apart of their lives, such as the chair they sit in through her ted talk. She, alongside her friends Julia Calimlim, Mia Spruill, and Lydia Li, are giving a talk on ergonomics and architecture.

Cameron Spears

Life
Cameron Spears is a student at Princess Anne High School in the International Baccalaureate program. He hopes to change perspectives on our personal limitations, societal, and cultural limitations, using them as grounds to build-off of, rather than ceilings to hold us down.

Jennifer Muth

Positive Psychology
Jennifer Muth is a Master Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Old Dominion University. ODU is also her alma mater for all three of her degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Science in Experimental Psychology, and an Education Specialist in Educational Leadership. She has been teaching college students for 26 years and is most passionate about teaching positive psychology, the scientific study of human flourishing. Jennifer's take on the theme of this TEDx event “breaking the norm” is to consider ‘what is right about people’ rather than the typical initial reaction, ‘what is wrong with people?’ If we more intentionally built what is strong in us by being more mindful of opportunities to increase positive emotion, engagement, and meaning, would we find ourselves on the path toward the good life? Implementable exercises to enhance each of these three components of happiness will be discussed, which will, hopefully, spur your own positive ripple.

Julia Calimlim

Architecture
Julia Calimlim is a 10th grade student in Princess Anne High School's IB Program. Through Princess Anne High School’s TEDX Event, she helped behind-the-scenes with the TEDX production, such as the sound, lighting, recording, and editing. She, alongside Aditi Paudel, Mia Spruill, and Lydia Li, explored the concept of the student chair, observing student working environments through the ergonomic lens.

Lydia Li

Architecture
Lydia Li is a sophomore in the IB program at Princess Anne High School. She shares a passion for baking, playing the piano, and global access to healthcare. She was deeply inspired by her friends Julia Calimlim, Aditi Paudel, and Mia Spruill, who worked alongside her in the TEDx talk It’s Not Sitting Right. In the future, Lydia hopes to work in the medical field.

Maggie Tu

Youth
Maggie Tu is a high school student in Princess Anne High School's International Baccalaureate Program. Through this talk, she hopes to advocate for the thoughts and ideas of her and her peers, encouraging motivating and engaging classroom environments where all students can be the best versions of themselves! Don't be afraid to be the orange in a world of apples!

Mia Spruill

Architecture
Mia Spruill attends Princess Anne High School in the IB program, and is a current sophomore. She’s an exceptional debater and loves philosophy and ethics. Mia wants to pursue a career in public policy, specializing in revising the educational system. She, alongside her friends Julia Calimlim, Aditi Paudel, and Lydia Li, are giving a talk on ergonomics and architecture. If you ever want to talk about current geopolitical affairs or go surfing, Mia is the person to ask!

Susanna Davis

Social Change
Susanna Davis is an AP Human Geography teacher at Princess Anne High School. She is extremely passionate about student leadership and school spirit, and through her talk, she hopes to convey the message of breaking the norm and the importance of being an active member and leader in your school community.
